I didn't like the fact that Poliwhirl lost speed upon evolving, and I saw the added fighting type as a liability considering the only fighting stab move it could get was fucking submission. She would end up becoming a Politoed when I started Silver.

I just played through Red for the first time since 1998 or 1999. When I was a kid, I gave up at the Elite 4 and just used Missingno to dupe rare candies. This time it actually felt easier than my first Sun playthrough.

Same. But I was a fucking idiot so the same thing happened to me in ruby. One pokemon vs the entire league I remember being so fucking stubborn, I saved at the beginning of the league and kept reloading that save and trying to fight the league differently, but still only using that one fucking blaziken. I'm not an idiot anymore, I swear

I never learned to use anything outside of my overlevelled starter until halfway through Gen 3, when I was 11 or so. My level 80ish Charizard is still sitting on my Red cartridge (if the batteries haven't dried up by now).
