Two versions are made to attract alphas and betas respectively. (Ex: Ruby attracted Alpha, Sapphire attracted Beta.) Based on which sold more, they pander more to the larger demographic in the 3rd and complete version.

About Gen 1 and 2 remakes...are they both cool? Omega Ruby owner here.

No idea which thread to ask in and don't want to make a new thread and give people a reason to be pissed.

I just started playing again, the only other game I played was gen 1 when it was new. Played the game, played the tcg both GB and physical, battled and traded. Much fun was had. Shortly before gen2 there was a huge stigma of non-gaming people that pokemon was for kids, because advertisers and marketers were aiming desperately for a larger market and started marketing at very young kids suddenly for toys and such.

So I stopped to not get made fun off, and regretted it then.

Now I'm an adult and my kid is old enough to play PKMN so we're gonna play together. Got myself a 3ds and was wondering if anyone can suggest some good pokemon I missed out on in my absence?

His problem was that he didn't have the Blue version. Blue's ONLY fault was missing Scyther. Having to trick some little kid into trading me a Scyther was as big a pain as tricking someone into trading so my pokes could evolve back then. And you had to do it on the low with dumb kids so you could show up with your friends with badass lineup completed already.

That said, my personal favourites are Heartgold/Soulsilver and Black/White/Black 2/White 2, or just go for Sun/Moon if you'd like something more recent.
