Her design is top tier

Simple design, not bogged down with shit like May and Rosa (though both of those designs are still nice, don't get me wrong).
Also has the most attractive canon art.

I like the very slight "punky" (?) elements of her design, plus I love ponytails. Fits the New York City look a lot.

It's her design, since all Pokémon protagonists have zero personality to speak of and have roughly the same level of success in canon.

Give her a little more credit, she's an enterprising talent agent who personally negotiates business deals, sets up showbiz appointments, handles her own finances, and has to watch and care for Pokemon actors. I'd say she's quite responsible and would make a real world badass.

Hilda certainly seems that way. It invokes a picture in my head of a short, fat, old woman churning butter in rural 1800's Germany.

Hilbert on the other hand sounds kind of normal, but it's an unsettlingly weak choice of phonetics that make the name feel very soft, unimposing, and derpish. Really unfortunate because the name's etymology means something along the lines of "tough fighter".

Also their names are just too similar. It would feel less strange if the male and female counterparts all had r63 genderbent names, but they don't. They're unique. They're individuals. But Hilbert and Hilda aren't in that regard. It makes the two of them stand less apart than the other pairs of protagonist and thus makes them stand out in a distasteful way.

When I think "Hilda", I think of one of Sabrina the Teenage Witch's two aunts. Not quite as rural and unhip but still very much part of the "too old and foreign and eccentric" vibe.
