Sad because of missed opportunities.

The multiple rivals could've been actually great, but they were completely underutilised.

Calem/Serena could've been truly challenging post-game, but they were doomed to always play second fiddle.

Shauna could've been combined with Trevor, so at least if she sucked at battling she could've had SOMETHING going for her.

And poor Tierno. Why were there no contests? He could've returned in ORAS and been a top-tier Contest rival, instead of whatshername the J-Pop idol.
