I did see this pattern as well, if gen8 also has a cute stater, a cool starter and a strong starter then it will be confirmed they created a "formula" fo starters, maybe after gen5 backlash?


Also the amount of waifu mons has increased immensely in gen8, it might be just coincidence, but i think the house designers decided to pander to a certain group of pokemon players, and it worked, gen7 sold like hotcakes, why? Maybe it was that, or the crazy UB shit, or the gen1 pandering, or the"innovation" with the no gyms stuff. Regardless, i think next gens will follow the trends they have started recently in pokemon designs.

You right anon. But there is a slight problem tho, a little redflag in the anime. If the formula is true then decidueye should be the Mon that gets shield for the anime, but there putting a little too much attention to the least popular starter of this gen. And if they learned anything from BW, is that when you give the least popular pokemon more attention then the obvious badass that could make bank. Then you end up as the forgotten series or a series that people want to forget.

Let's look at one of black and whites many mistakes. The starters. I know none of the starters were shield but one almost did. And it was the unpopular one.

If they gave ash samurott or serperior it could have bin slightly bin more tolerable. But the backlash from pignite was so great (and the anime failing in general) it kinda lead up to them pausing on the thought of ash getting and emboar, And they brought back charizard to keep some few people watching.
