The only way it was better was PvE balance was improved compared to ORAS and XY

Otherwise it was even worse than Gen VI

So many advances but so many mistakes. Better story, better model animation, refined mega mechanics, but over the top z moves ruined it for me. They abandoned mega evolution which could have been cool if it wasn't reserved for the popular and powerful. Z crystals were a poor attempt to give all Pokémon an edge, because it still works even better on the best (see Flyingnium on Landorus). New Pokémon were actually a big plus in terms of design, and I didn't mind the slowness of the gen because it forced players to try different strategies when winning, unfortunately once the bank was updated the new slow mons faded into the meta oblivion of UU/RU and no attempt was made to make or introduce a way to give slow Pokémon more of an advantage. I'm talking about a lack of auto-trick room abilities. I just want more regional alternate forms and more megas, I could care less about z crystals or legendary forms (Necrozma's fabled dragon form).

It's better than XY but it's still pretty eh.

i liked what they did with trials and some of the story, as well as the new pokemon which were pretty nice
but the level design is terrible, the region is too small, the story is terribly executed after the 2nd island, the game has bad performance which the graphics don't justify, more features are removed again and the post-game feels more dead than x and y

BW's story is better because it fuses with the League progression and has a strong conclusion. Even if you don't like N it's still entertaining.

The problem with SM is that its story blows its load after island 3. Gladion and Hau disappear and you're left with Lillie for the rest of the immediate plot. The island trials basically get thrown to the wayside, the Dragon Trial being an obvious example. The conclusion to the plot involves you fighting octopus-mom and then you're off to the League.

You are a guy from kanto and you hear about trials and you travel around in order to beat them, while you do that you grow attached to a loli and she admires you for your adventure and pokemon training skills and thinks you are a Pretty Cool Guy for doing all that and decides she wants to do it too herself at the end

During cutscenes, the MC showed enough emotions without coming off as too much. Outside of cutscenes, the protagonist didn't change facial expressions much, but still showed a lot of emotions, with their actions. There were also a lot of little movements in simple conversations that added to it. That's a lot more than literally everything that came before.

But as of now, every Pokemon game on the 3DS has been shit, worst of the series.
I hope the Kanto sequels can redeem the console.

Because the games were great, I've seen most of the people who rateted it gave it a high score, nothing below 7/10.

But as for the anime, it's still a little too early to see how it's doing, as of right now it's doing decent. But I feel like episode 21 is a redflag. Depending on what rout it takes.
