I worked on his face for an hour and it still looks awful. also the gibble looks a lot better than the tamer since i actually took the time to do light shading on it. I was following the gen 4 sprite of it and was able to copy the shading for it. The tamer sprite was too small to accurately see shading on so i didn't do anything for him. Still i hope this drawing brings you some happiness.

Can someone draw me a cute Salazzle please?

Here's the idea I had: three panels. Panel 1, Salazzle jumping out of some bushes to spook a human, arms above her head. Human is a girl, you can see her legs in the foreground/on one side of the screen.

Panel two is a closeup of Salazzle's face. There's a speech bubble of the girl saying "What a cute Salazzle!" Salazzle has a shocked look on her face, like she's taken aback when she didn't scare the girl.

Panel three is the girl walking away with the Salazzle in her arms. Closeup on Salazzle, she's on her back, tail curled up and over, tip to her chest. Feet waving around. Worried/embarrassed look on her face, wavy mouth, hands over her snout, maybe have the girl pet her.

Just drawing more won't get you anywhere, though. You have to know what you're working on to improve. That's the thing that no one ever talks about. If you want to improve, focus on one major thing at a time. Linework and general anatomy are your biggest flaws. Focus on fixing those. Linework is something that is just practice until you get it down, but anatomy is something much more cumbersome. Break down a figure in a reference first into its sticks for limbs and circles for joints, then build up from there. Your scribbles will continue to look like shit until you do that.

Like hell I don't know that feeling. I've been on and off drawthreads for years now. People are aware that their drawings are bad, or they should be. Someone else telling them isn't giving them new information, but someone encouraging the same type of drawing is detrimental to their growth.
I'm not advocating for the people that shit on new artists, but I know from experience that if you get praise for bad art you get comfortable drawing bad art. I had to step away from these threads to show ANY sort of improvement, and even now I know I don't draw that well in the areas I'd like to.

Yes, there is a difference between a professor giving criticism and an ANON making poor remarks about your art: you generally pay more attention (or should) to the professor. If someone who knows their shit is giving you helpful advice, of course you'd be a fool not to take it, but you'd also be a fool to take negative statements from an anon on the internet to heart. This doesn't apply just to drawing, this applies to life. You're not enclosed to a bubble of only positive criticism, ANYONE can come up to you and talk shit about what you do. I know the reason I didn't improve was because I got consistently more praise for fast, low detail stuff I would pump out and had no incentive to draw longer, more detailed work. I had to step away from this environment. I don't know what other words I can use to form my point of view so that it can make sense to you, so I'm just going to wait until I get home and continue working on my drawing.
