OP artstyle looks more like the classic and iconic Pokemon designs than the real Gen 6 art does. And no, I'm not talking about the simple color palletes, although that does help.

Yes these ones are absolutely trash and disproportionate compared to the actual designs of the pokemon and all of their expressions are the same angry toriyama style rather than each mon having their own. Not to mention a level of detail was lost especially with Froakie's foam which has just become a featureless orb.

Well, that's relative from person to person. There are people who started with gen 4 who think early designs look nothing like what they're used to, there's not just a single-dimensional view of what a pokemon can look like. This has been established since gen 1.

Keep in mind that aesthetic and style has only been a part of two pokemon generations when the series didn't have an established style yet.
If anything to the modern casual player as well as genwunners they're less pokemon than what we have due to how much they've been exposed to the new styles.
