My best guess would be the form Solgaleo/Lunala transforms into at the end of its life. Hence the latin root for dead in its name. Since every stage of cosmog barring Lunala represents a stage in a star's life, Necrozma most likely represents a black hole.

he's like the opposite of lusamine. he's the result of when an ultra beast gets too absorbed into the pokemon world and loses its ultra beast energy. hence why the giant pillars are fading white to black.

he will probably take the lore of the franchise in a direction which leads up to the next game. kinda like what they did with zygarde predicting the "threats to the ecosystem" being the ultra beasts as a reason to why it's in alola.

my guess is that the whole ultra beasts dimension gimmick will stay with alola, but the idea of traversing space will carry on to the gen 4 remakes. we've already talked about alternate realities in oras. now we just need to wrap up the plot with some more azoth bullshit!
