Yeah man, it's so hard to add x amount of spawns ontop of the existing rural spawns and to tweak their rarity spawns slightly so it's not just rodents and birds.

I mean think about it, they must've used up all those resources and brain power spoonfeeding people in cities shit like blisseys by the hour (Vegas) or burying them in dratini (Santa Monica).

I assume the density of spawns is directly proportional to the density of the area based on some sort of socio-geographic metric. The game would have to add in a fudge factor that recognizes when an area is "rural" and then apply it to those areas only. That seems like a lot of extra work. Perhaps it's doable but it's obviously not a priority. Some anon suggested measuring the distance between Pokestops and using that to determine when an area is rural, that might be a trivial solution.

I would be curious to know an exact number of spawn points in a city like Las Vegas. Obviously it's going to be ridiculously high, increasing the probability of Ultra Rare spawns. I live in suburbs and I've seen a handful of Ultra Rares over the last year, one of the largest cities in the US is bound to have a good amount of ultra rares.

Also city fags get to play on easy mode but holding down gyms is always going to be a struggle with the sheer amount of people taking them over.

This may be a practice solution. Set a floor on spawn points. Maybe some arbitrary number. When the server applies it's algorithm to distribute spawn points throughout the world, if the "magic metric" used to determine density dips below the floor, just fix the density to the floor. Areas with only 1-3 spawn points would see more and with more spawns you'd have a higher probability of ultra rares spawning.

Let me tell you a story.

My hometown contains around 180 gyms but they are fairly close to each other. Most of the players are team mystic. I dont have a problem with that. In fact, i love team rivalry and chose instinct because of the underdog meme. In the first 3 to 4 months thingd were going great. We had turf wars, team gym build ups,all legit players.

After christmas things changed.

So many people turned to spoofing that it became unbearable. In time we adapted and accepted the new way of playing. Walkfags who remained nowadays dont mind spoofers because they at least have to put in effort and time unlike botted accounts.

There is something i need of you to help me. I know you are not my personal army but this way you can help the gym scene in one city. There is this group of players who cause a bad reputation for other fellow mystic members. Here is what they do:

Most of them are all lv38 and above. Although it is possible and there ate legit players in that lvl range, because of this situation i seriously doubt their legit level progression. But put aside that.

They take down our gym and build it back up in matter of minutes. We know bubblestrat or whatever combo works after the update but we dont use it. It is possible to build up a gym very fast but not as fast as they are doing.

5 of them move to a gym. With help from teammates spoofers they take out a lv10 gym in 6 minutes which is virtually impossible for 5 people. Then they put it back up to 40k prestige in 2 and a half minutes while not even doing anything. Either spoifers are helping them or someone has dsome kind of bot service. When the gym reaches 40k prestige they put themselves then there is a pause(about 1 minute) just enough to switch accounts.then they put another 4 people. The prestige shrinks to 49k just to put ghastly out and then rises again while they have already left.

This has been going on for a month. Yesterday we had enoguh and recorded it ingame. Cont.

Because the game made taking gyms easier than leveling one up to stick a pokemon in.

Remember when prestiging was on par with taking down gyms? Everyone cried that all the gyms were level and and that life was unfair.

People acted like level 10 gyms are impossible to defeat, because it required effort and resources to attack it, you know like it should.

At this point we've got counters for everything that sits on gyms and with fast attacks actually being fast again I don't see why we can't have easier to prestige gyms the yield more rewards when you beat them.
