Tomioka wrote another good episode of Dragonball Super today. Really love this tournament arc so far and how Goku is being blamed for all the universes being erased.

Man, why can't they let Tomioka write this stuff for Pokemon? Whoever the business execs are that prevent the writers from allowing Ash to win a league and succeed need to be fired.

Just hoping Ash gets a decent team this time around, and a few good battles akin to Ashninja vs M-Gallade. Seems like he'll Litten either at the end of this island's arc or early on in the next one.

I never really understood why people obsessed over Misty/Brock. Sure, during the first season I really liked them too. But then as we progressed into Johto and beyond it became obvious their characters were designed to be stagnant and unchanging so there was never anything to look forward to.

The way you see people on forums cry over Misty and Brock leaving the anime is probably the dumbest thing I had ever seen in the pokemon fandom over the last 15 years.

Do you think it's weird that the kids watching pokemon today have no idea who Misty, May or Dawn are?

I doubt the kids of today have seen anything prior to BW, and that's probably being generous. Now I'm not sure if today's kids were even around to see the beginning of XY in 2013.

Well, its better than the last arc but man, even doramemon have better script than dragon ball since the begining.
Also all the people forgot that Tomioka have a very bad works like the Space Battleship Yamato movie, in Best Wishes he was the headwriter and he made the fucking script for the Hoopa movie. He make a few good episodes now and a more or less great work with DP but he's a mediocre scripter if you ask me.

Just watched the latest Dragon Ball super and that fight was fucking awesome. Good thing DBZ got some good action and fighting episodes going on, because we're not getting any of that stuff in SoL-slapstick-shit-Matsui-SM.

Tomioka wrote very few BW episodes. The few he did was mostly fillers or one-off episodes, besides the last one.

It's pretty obvious after DP Tomioka took a bit of a break from the anime, after working for 4-years on DP as head writer, and a large chunk of AG before that, it's no surprise he needed a break from the anime.

Most of the fights have regressed compared to those of DBZ, DBS is the SM of Dragonball.

Must be jarring for Tomioka, switching back and forth between writing for Dragon Ball and Pokemon. In Pokemon, he's basically Matsu's puppet and is forced to write slapstick fillers about the base stage starters, whilst in DBZ, he's basically the head writer now and can do whatever he wants.

As a fan of Pokemon and a long time watcher from OS to SM, XY don't really deserve the praise it is earning among westerner fans. Ash battle competence throughout XY recoiled towards the end after introducing a rival (Alain) that he didn't even beat ONCE. Amourshipping is life, but Serena's goal is the least interesting, took a lot of episode to realize, and literally rushed out towards the end. Also note the POKEMON BLACK and WHITE anime have better ratings over XY/Z in Japan (Except for the Team Flare Arc). We're talking about that BW abomination.

I only started visiting reddit because I saw they were discussing XY there. I had no idea there were even pokemon anime fans there. Back in 2015-2016 there was a lot of discussion about Serena, Amour, Misty and I had to educate them on AG and DP.

Surprisingly a lot of May fans there too, and a few Dawn fans from what I remember. I expected mostly all casuals who hadn't watched the anime since the OS. But I stopped going there since the Kalos league eps aired so I have no idea what they talk about now

Seriously asking, but why do people like SM for being comfy? It's fucking Pokemon; you don't watch a show based off a monster battling video game just to see characters go to school. This season is trying to turn Pokemon into something it's not meant to be, a slice of life show.

On the bright side at least neither Misty nor Brock are in SM. Some guy at rangerboard said he hoped Movie 20 would reintroduce kids to Misty/Brock so they can return to be Ash's companions in the Alola region.

Some people just don't really want a cartoon to take itself too seriously, I guess. The problem is that SM is comfy while not having anything else going for it. Comfy is one trait that can be good or bad in and of itself but can't otherwise carry a show.
