One of the problems I bumped into with the "make the pokemon spawn in the mountains ect" plan was the lack of 4g or even 3g coverage in those places.

Even upping the spawns in less populated areas to a much higher rate than the cities would give a somewhat more authentic feeling: you go to town to stock up on poke balls an go out into the less known parts to track down pokemon.

Biomes need to fuck off too, or at least rotate, people getting stuck with the same stale spawns since launch is shit.

Biomes are one of the biggest problems with spawns. They make sense in theory - even most electric Pokemon in Kanto are found only in the Power Plant. But the way they were handled is piss poor, especially since not every player can be Red and journey off without needing food, water, shelter, or even money.

I agree they should rotate some more - it's the only reasonable way to handle them if they really want to keep them.

To be fair, if you want to see different Pokemon from geographical terrain, maybe you should leave your house once in a while.

As much as it inconveniences me, I like that I have to go to the river to get water Pokemon, etc. Maybe put a cap on the radius of these patches so that you don't get 500 square miles of standard shitmon spawns and bugs, but rotations sound dumb past the nest rotations we're getting.

I think what we need is just access to a better tracker that can let us search and map for that shit, and also just a real map that isn't some black box green box google maps overlay.

Also nobody likes the "go into town to restock" shit when you would probably use up 100 balls within an hour or two. Game is also probably going to stay dead and spoofer-happy as long as ruralfags can't get new Pokestops.

I never argued against this, but a good amount of people spoof purely because the nearest Pokestop is literally five miles away.

I live in a suburb. I don't have it AS bad as some people do, since I have exactly one Pokestop a five minute walk down the street (and three gyms around my neighborhood for some reason), but if I want items I have to camp that one spot for hours since there's nothing else here.

For me, Pokemon spawns isn't the issue. It's the lack of Pokestops. Not everyone is blessed with getting to live the rural life. And I'm not asking for ruralfags to be catered to - I just want them to have a fighting chance without having to resort to spoofing.

Do you know how companies like this work? They look to fix problems in the most convenient, least-effort way possible, especially one that has already made way more money than they'll ever know what to do with off of it.

In our city of 30,000 with have 22 pokestops, I live 3 miles from them as they're all clustered around the center near the cathedral. We have 1 nest and it's currently locked to jigglypuff and before that ledyba.

So when choosing a pokemon to battle with, is it better to have amazing IV or an amazing moveset? I have a hitmonchan with 91% IV, but apparently his moveset is very bad (pokegenie says both moves are "F" grade). So how do I choose what to go with? I also have an Umbreon with 40% IV and "A" grade moves for both of them. I want to start getting gym ready and want to make sure I invest in the right areas.

So I've noticed something strange with the gyms around me and I was wondering if anyone else has seen similar stuff.

I can see 3 gyms from my house and these are usually highly contested when the game is busy(a new update, event for ex) or Mystic dominated. Last night midnight I looked and all 3 were neutral for at least 15 mins(I closed my game after this).

Tonight at 9:30 local time I went to the shop and all 3 gyms were neutral again. I stopped at the one and put my Pokemon on and claimed coins. When I came back it was neutral again, Pokemon was dead.

I think spoofers do this to avoid being reported. They take down a gym but don't immediately put anything in, since someone could physically be at that gym, wondering who's fighting it and possibly gathering evidence. Then they come back later, which is much easier to do since they're not actually going anywhere, and place something in it. So even if you're dedicated enough to wait for the spoofer to finally place, you can't really know it's not someone else that happened to see it open.

If the Stardust mechanic is to remain, then I think Pokestop spins should always give a small amount of Stardust with them.

Even amounts like 25 or 50 (which would make sense, to match the 50 exp you gain from each Pokestop spin) would help out and allow us to power up Pokemon that we would normally set aside because of low CP (due to the current meta).

Personally, I have a couple dozen high IV and PMS Pokes that I just can't bother to power up because of their inability to perform as well as things like Blissey and Dragonite in the current metagame.

Exactly why gyms matter.

If you don't want to grind Pidgeys all day, you need to put in some extra legwork into getting into stable-ish gyms and keep going back when they go down. Otherwise, what's the point of caring about gyms.

You have to remember that Niantic is full of former Google engineers so they buy into that meritocracy crap so the game is very much a grind2win game. The more you grind, the easier it becomes to grind harder and get even more ahead, and you have to master it.

100k a week isn't a lot of grinding.
Break it up into like 10k-15k a day, maybe get 3k a day from gyms alone, and you can probably get 50-100 Pokemon with a couple hours' walking after filling up your bag (or even while filling up the bag). Ruralfags probably can't grind every day of the week like that but as long as you have regimen you can play out when you have opportunity, you can chip away at it easily over a couple weeks.per mon you want to max out.

Ultimately the only answer in a grind2win game is grinding and there's not much you can do about it other than shut up and grind.

Recently I have been visiting a remote village. There is no Pokéstops or gym nearby. I was trying to play PoGo here since I arrived last week. But there was no Pokémon spaws at all. My Sightings/Nearby list is also empty. Most of the time I get GPS signal not found error, even when location service is active. Pokémons spawns only when I use incense.
So it got me wondering, how does the spawning works? Does it happen only where Pokéstops or gyms are present?

Niantic takes the cell activity data they collected from the NSA back in 2010 and then sprinkle spawn points around points of activity. Then these spawn points spawn a new Pokemon once an hour every hour, so if there are no spawns at all, then there are going to be no spawns at all because there are no spawn points.

(Un)Lucky for you, if Niantic didn't fix the bug, maybe incenses will give you some rare shit you usually wouldn't see on an incense because there is no spawn point data to draw from for the incense (e.g. if you're next to river spawns, incense would give you a lot of magikarps). But I wouldn't bank on that anyway.
Besides, you shouldn't be rewarding Niantic giving you a buttfuck by giving them more money for incenses.

Some people kept taking the gyms near my house and putting Blisseys in, so I powered up another Blissey myself with the last of my candies and stardust and did the same (along with my wife). They didn't touch it after that. Seems getting a Blissey is one thing, but they didn't have the attacking power to take it out. It's really OP as a defender, but what can they do about it without changing the stat formula again, but it'll change everything if they do.

I have a 100% Scyther (and a couple of 95-97 ones for backup) and after 2000 spins I still haven't gotten my Metal Coat, "only" 2 King's Rocks (and one was from the 7th day spin back when it worked). I've never thought I'd ask this or even care about that pathetic rock snake but I randomly got a metal coat form a stop and evolved my 96% Onix and used all my candies to level that bad boy up so he'd be at a competitive CP range (2k is good enough in my area to hold a gym) but I ran out of candies around 1600 and I'm now noticing the only reliable way to find them is at a nest.
Anyone have any tips on where to locate this rock snake? Biome suggestions?

So far, I have only been able to find 1 up grade. Just after the update, my wife and I moved from Western Washington to Southern Arizona, driving the whole way over the course of 4 days. We made stops all over WA, ID, OR, UT, and AZ, and still the only thing I found was that measly up grade. It could just be that you're lucky, it could be that they are biome based; it's impossible to tell.

The irony of teamwork being between teams being more rewarding than amongst teams is all the more reason I can't wait to see what they are planning for gym mechanics.
