Dude you're telling me man. I'm 24 but remember getting a GBC and Red as a kiddo for Christmas. It always makes me happy inside to see kiddos wearing pokémon shirts though, makes me remember how ecstatic I used to be simply playing Pokemon. Now I just play them because they're what I grew up with.

I couldn't afford gen 1 but used to borrow my neighbours blue version for months at a time lol. I remember getting my GBC and Gold for Christmas in... 2000? Magical time. It's great that kids are still into it, but fuck I never really considered that I'd feel like this.

I was 8 when RB launched in the US, and I miss the hell out of Pokemania. I moved a couple of years later, and my old friends gave me cards and Tomy figures and stuff as going away presents. I still have all of it, btw. Then Gen II helped me make friends in my new neighborhood and new school. Good times, good times. The 20th anniversary last year made me reflect on just how much impact this series has had on my life, and for how long. I'm turning 27 at the end of the month.

why do you think people get so pissy here about Gen 1 pandering, yet constantly beg for gen 3/4 shit? /vp/ and online pokemon discussion in general have filled with newfans for at least a few years now.
