Many more things than some will admit, but still not as many things as should've.

new megas/primal designs, dexnav, physical/special split for hoenn, revamped music is pretty decent (even tho I still love 24/7 trumpets), catchable deoxys, majority of legendaries have no shiny lock compared to shit like s/m and x/y

otherwise it's a straight up r/s revamp with none of the improvements from emerald
