Absol's about as edgy as Chicken Little. The only thing that could possibly be seen as edgy is humans mistaking its warnings as it causing the disasters, but it's not like Absol's the first thing to ever have that sort of problem.

By all means, Absol should BE edgy.

It is black and red. (and white...whatever.) notably having red eyes. It has a grim reaper scythe for a horn and a tail, and has sickle claws. It has a tragic backstory. It lives alone up in the rugged mountains like a boss because it's treated so unfairly and is so #Misunderstood. It can sense natural disasters that mere mortals cannot because it's #Sensitive. The mega has emo hair and is a winged death angel of some sort. There are probably a couple other edgy facts I can't think of.

And yet... it isn't edgy. I know I personally don't think of it as so.

I wonder why that is. Could it be because all the black and red is overpowered by white? Because it's so fluffy? Because it's actually a hero and it saves people? For some reason, nobody thinks of Absol as edgy despite having all the hallmarks. It is a very well done pokémon.

Nah. Fairy wouldn't even do too well for it. Defensively, Absol is gonna get taken down by pretty much anything in most circumstances anyway. So it's no big deal having that one extra immunity.
Offensively, you get STAB Play Rough. Which is good for what? You may as well just carry Ice Beam if you intend to take on dragons. A 0 SpA Naive Absol can outspeed and OHKO 0 HP/SpD Unsashed/scarfed Garchomp, Salamence and Lando with that.

Also, it'd be targeted less by fighting type and entirely by dragon type moves, which ruins some Me First shenanigans.

No. Moon's dex entry for Mega Absol says the following.
