I used Bulbasaur because it was Pokemon number 1.

Charmander > Bulba > Squirtle
Wartortle = Ivysaur > Charmeleon
Blastoise > Zard > Why did they ruin you

Charizard is my favorite pokemon, so I pick Charmander. I will say however that Bulbasaur is the best looking starter from Kanto and in Gen 1, it was broken as hell with Leech Seed and Toxic, as the two effects trigger a glitch
