Johto has much, much better visuals and music. Sinnoh had a few good route tracks.

Also it's hard to focus on the "comfiness" when the game itself is shitty anyway, so that sets Sinnou back quite a lot as well.

When I was younger I would always stick around Mauville after beating Ruby. I'm not sure why. The route to the left is comfy as fuck and the small little beach to the right is nice as well.

The problem was that all the water was at the end of the game, so the variety was amazing until just after Lilycove. Lilycove itself is comfy as hell though.

I would have liked it more were there more landmarks. ORAS having an actual map in the 3DS's bottom screen and the fast surfing speed made it more tolerable, but it was still repetitive.

It's probably worse going for the Sapphire version. Not only do you get Lotad instead of Seedot, not only do you fight Aqua instead of Magma, but your cover legend is a Water type as well.

This, all those trainers and items made them fun to explore, the wild pokémon related complaints never made much sense to me because repels existed, and even them you could always use the underwater routes to avoid confrontations
