The game needs to switch from CP to Levels. 1 to 100, just like the games.

You can still have the CP formula working in the background, so Dragonites will still be the strongest pound-for-pound, etc, but because their candies are relatively difficult to come by you would see more Gyms filled with high-level, commonplace shitmons than you would Dragonites.

They should also unlock Level from Trainer Level, limiting the amount you can power something up based on your Level, when there is no gameplay balance element that requires your power to be constrained, is absolutely terrible game design.

You do realise the CP forumula is literally just for gym placement, right? They could keep their GO stats the same and rework how they calculate CP and every pokemon would be just as good as it is right now, the only thing that would change is which pokemon get you the highest gym slots.

'Best gym defenders' is kind of a misnomer. Gyarados, for example, eats shit against relatively common electric-type attackers like Jolteon because it takes almost twice the damage against STAB electric attacks and doesn't have great HP. Same deal with Rhydon vs the tanky beast Vapelord that virtually everyone has. What makes them common defenders is that they out-CP everything else so they're generally the last to get kicked out.
The only real exception to this rule is Blissey and to a lesser extent Snorlax which have high enough CP not to be placed at the bottom of most gyms but are also more time-consuming to get rid of.

I was thinking, instead of banning accounts of known spoofers, couldn't Niantic just disable gyms for them? I don't even care that spoofers catch pokemon, it doesn't affect me at all, it only affects me when they interact with gyms. This seems very doable from Niantic's end. Possible Solution to Alt Accounts

My idea is for 10 minutes cooldown (bench).
A cooldown peroid between knocking a poke off the gym and it returning to the player

So for example gym goes from 52k prestige to 49k and poke 10 gets knocked off. But if within 10 minutes your team can prestige the gym back up to 50K, that pokemon comes off the bench back into the gym. If after 10 minutes your team hasn't returned the prestige back up then that poke is removed. The final part is that if the gym gets knocked down two levels then there is only enough room on the bench for one poke and the 10th immediately returns to the player and the 9th now has 10minutes

The idea is that with a 10 minute cooldown a large proportion of people using alt accounts would better serve their time training up a friendly gym. That being said people that are set on cheating will cheat no matter what for their own selfish gain.

If someone comes along and knocks the gym to 49k prestige with minimal effort, then with minimal effort you can return it to its original state. If two players are "PVP" on the gym then the defender does get a small bonus having an extra defender but it is the weakest on the gym that returns so this might actually help either side.

Possible difference, the bench is either active (poke still fights) or inactive (poke is temp off until either prestiged back up or time out)

I actually love this idea. It would address the shaving problem and offer a reasonable way to fight against double account users without punishing regular users. It would also give all defenders an immediate way to refortify their gym if the lowest defender is removed by an enemy team member.

The last time we heard about professor Willow was when he discovered eggs having colours. So, what happened to him? He hasn't said a thing even with the arrival of 2nd Generation.
Now talking seriously, I think the game needs some lore. I remember a post comparing the Sci-Fi lore of Ingress with Willow discovering things in Pokémon Go. But lately the last isn't true either. It would be nice if Niantic gave a thought to this in the future. I think a game is not only mechanics. It is contents too.
And a last thing. Since the launch of the game, I think the expression "transfer the pokémon to Professor Willow" is simply ridiculous. Why not simply "free the pokémon"? I always try to go for type advantage but that can be a challenge with just 4 very strong pokemon. One of the main reasons I invest heavily into a few select mons is for potion efficiency/time. So, what do you do?
