First intentional shiny was a Treecko in the first half of last year, using Masuda. Thought it made sense for my first Pokemon to be the first one I shiny hunted. Only had a single other shiny before that (excluding freebies).

Someone in the last thread said I don't deserve a shiny for using the Matsuda method. Why not?

Favorite lime green shiny?
Jolteon probably, I think it's the most lime shiny too.

I've been hunting since mid 2016, just got this smeargle today while EV training. The nature was naive which I think can work, anyone know if a non-HA smeargle with +speed nature and a focus sash can work? I feel like it could be a split attacker because the nature hinders defense not offense. I might train it up. has IVs in everything but defensive stats too.

Most of it was actually spent completing the dex, messing around with Plaza and Pelago, and just playing around in the game. I haven't even tried the Battle Tree or caught Nihilego yet.

I just did some looking shit up on smeargle and I don't think I could have asked for better. I got equally low defenses at 35 and 35. so I'll just use a sash and +speed is the best option for her, I'm actually very happy with this. moody would have been nice but I may just try using technician with priority moves like mach punch or water shuriken. I used my level ball too and it fits so well :]

It's a lot easier than SOS and doesn't have a chain cap, I would highly recommend it. Corsola actually has a 60% encounter rate on route 12 in XY so that would be optimal, as it is very rare in ORAS.

Shiny hunting in Colosseum is a pain in the ass because you have to actually snag a Pokemon to find out if it's shiny. And you'll probably feel like shit if you see a trainer with a shiny Pokemon because it most likely won't stay that way for you.

XD is easier but there's less than 10 Pokemon you can shiny hunt for.

You can chainfish without the charm. Same for Radar, but XY's radar is so frustrating it's a miracle anyone has ever used it at all.
The shiny charm in gen 6 needs all 700 or so (minus events) anyway, so it's not really reasonable for most people.

Last night I hatched the lime green doduo I've been MMing for. So happy. Taking a break and breeding some other mons, and holy shit it's so fast.

I mean that gen 6's shiny charm is the most difficult to complete, barring gen 5's GTS only pokemon which is fairly useless.
You need an inordinate amount of Pokemon for an item that was cut down to a much more manageable 300 in the newest title, in addition to the Oval charm being easier to get. I'm all for completing a dex but for shiny breeding and hunting WITH a charm, except for legends, SM is the best for it.
I got to 500 before hitting a GTS roadblock with XYORAS so I couldn't make it there.
They also serve different purposes, XY is excellent for autohatch in Lumiose, ORAS is primarily for legendaries like Zekrom that can't be shiny anywhere else.
I lost my living dex to a fire years back too.

TLDR: SM is more reasonable to get it in now that the G6 GTS is dead.

The only Pokemon that can be shiny in GoD are your starter, poke spot mons, Duking's trades, and Mt. Battle's 3 starters. There's a guide for poke spot hunting too:

I still disagree with some of your points, though.

I've never used the GTS to finish a pokedex... I honestly don't understand how people can.
I completed my gen VI living dex just using just the cards that I had (which was Y, OR and AS. I got Xerneas from the shiny XYZ events).
Yes it took a long ass time, but yes it felt fucking good.

And as for it being 'more managable to get' the shiny/oval charms in gen VII, I actually dislike that change a lot.
I think that shiny pokemon should be a lot more rare than they currently are. I might even go so far as to say that gen VII making the charm easier to get is a step backwards.
But that's just my opinion; clearly yours are different.

My old dex was built up since my copy of Leafgreen, but I only ever buy one copy of each gen game, so in stuff like gen 5, I was forced to use the GTS to get Pokemon like Reuniclus. It's impossible to complete the dex without the GTS if you don't buy both games, which is something I don't do because the changes are too minimal. I also disliked that the reward was so petty in the older games, I enjoy the shiny/oval charms.

I like the change. Having to start from the 450 or so and being made to collect up to 800 would be murder, the smaller dex size is a godsend. I think they realized the dex was getting too huge for a huge part of their audience of people to even bother half completing. I know there are "hardcore" players that like completing an ever-expanding dex, but for people starting out to the series, it's too much.
I can't say I miss the way too huge dex, I do think they should have brought it back for LD players to get their certificates, but not lock the actually functional items behind it.

I didn't hunt for it but wanted to share. Was looking for a female Cubone since I need an Alolan Marowak for my living dex (and Marowak NEEDS to be a female). After finding 5 males in a row this little bird showed up. It looked a bit different and indeed it was shiny. I don't even have the shiny charm yet.

Just got this after a 2 day hunt.

Well, I'm set on getting a shiny Shedinja, one of my favorite Pokemon and also a two for one, once I'm done with Golisopod's shiny.
But I also really want to get a shiny Phione, Silvally and Mareanie, so what do you guys think I should do first? I would SOS Mareanie but the odds of finding a shiny Mareanie instead my 20th shiny Corsola are sad. Nincada is also in a Dream Ball.

Chaining is easy,but get a Male,high-leveled,Cute Charm lead and MAKE SURE that it knows Substitute,because the Salandits know moves that can inflict burns or poisoning.I got my sparkling,lewd lizard pretty quickly,but it was a complete nightmare because I had 15 Full Heals and ~200 Sitrus Berries (no other healing items) and I forgot to put Substitute on Sylveon.I realised my mistake halfway through the hunt.So yeah,get prepared.
