The essence for OU now is the Tapu. They've molded the entire Gen 7 OU metagame. Virtually every Pokémon that was dropped - or rose - was because of them.

Few exceptions:
- UB are good and would've been OU regardless.
- Gengar lost Levitate, that's mostly why it dropped.
- Burn was nerfed, which is why Volcanion and Keldeo dropped.
- More than half the megas are missing, so those will influence OU in the coming year as they get reintroduced.

OU's a shitshow, but it's not Smogon's fault, is Gamefreak's fault for abandoning the singles format.

It's basically at a point where if you arent playing stall theres no point not to just use the top 3 pokemon by usage (Lando, Mega Meta, Fini) and then just put whatever the fuck else you want on there that fits. Banning takes forever and there are quite a few things that just make the game not fun to play like scolipass

People are sleeping on Togedemaru. It's easily the best Pikaclone with three great abilities, a pretty damn good movepool for an electric type and even tho its defensive stats are middling, its deceptively bulky because of its typing. It's not gonna be OU, but it isn't going to be some trash PU mon either.

Other than that, nothing else really stands out until move tutors hit the next games.

What's there to not be satisfied about? Smogon provides a tier system that allows strong Pokemon to compete with strong Pokemon, and weak Pokemon get a chance against other weak Pokemon. There's nothing to not be satisfied about. The items and moves Smogon doesn't allow are reasonable, and overall, there's nothing really wrong with it.

I feel that OU has actually the potential to be a good meta once you remove the blatantly broken threats like Grenigger, Pheromosa, Mega Metagross and maybe Tapu Lele. It was like that too at the start of BW and XY
