How does getting them in a card pack make them any different? and these arbitrary megas only a few pokemon get are the same in the card game and the regular games, it's not like PTCG has mega buizel, mega sunflora and others, it has the same ones. And it's also gimmicky/gay as hell given how many cards centered around them there are and how they have their own mechanics.

While you're being a retard in general and there's no reason people should ever want to put themselves at an objective disadvantage, I do feel like there's a large part of the competitive community whose primary goal, rather than actually playing or getting better themselves, is to try to make themselves look more professional by putting other players down with things like "flawless or bust" and "no gimmicks ever, not even on an alt account in low ladder, it is an insult to the metagame"

That's true. I'm a big VGC player and I occasionally go to TCG leagues, and the way they talk about money there makes me feel really uncomfortable.

I don't even particularly mind spending the money needed to make all the top decks, what gets to me is that people at these events can brag about the fact that they paid an extra $100 to get all of their cards in reverse-holos. People ask my why I've chosen not to run my Shaymin in Full Art, and when I say it's because I consider it a waste of money, there's an awkward hushed silence and whispers of "kill the heathen". I've actually seen somebody buy a booster box for $110 in one shop instead of $95 in another shop so they can tell their friends that they take their hobby so seriously that they put more money than necessary in.

That really pisses me off, probably for different reasons to the rest of this board.
It isn't just that the girl on the right is naturally more beautiful, she has actually put a load more effort in.
Hair and make-up like that takes hours to put on
The pose and expression take talent or practice
The fact that it's a good camera and a good backdrop shows that effort was put in.
Admittedly she wouldn't look like a model, but she could at least look stylish.
