I liked the theme from the game, but it felt a bit too "playful" for me, it is also very short, guess the overal "feel" of the battle was different than with Dialga/Palkia and the Hoenn themes since it was a bit less "OH SHIT" and more like "Ok, Nebby, I'll show ya what I got".

Still, your take on the battle is pretty good but maybe a bit slower than what I expected it to.

Doubtful that'll happen any time soon. We'll be lucky if we get an anthology after the SM anime ends. For now, the only real option are "music rips" where the raw audio is taken from the episodes themselves and then processed in a program like Audacity to remove foreground noises there may be.

I've made a bunch of them, actually. Unfortunately, it's usually not as straightforward a process as one might think, so it's pretty time-consuming. Not to mention that you'll almost invariably end up with some loss of musical fidelity.

Eh, fair enough. I think most of the dub's musical replacements are pretty shitty. I get that there's licensing issues involved, but at least hire a decent composer if you're gonna ditch the original soundtrack altogether. This is especially a problem in the TV show itself, especially ever since TPCi took over dubbing the show in 2006.

Arceus is the God Pokemon, but he's probably much weaker than he used to be.
He's got enough juice to pop out a replacement for the Creation Trio, but that's probably the max he can do in one go.

Not him but that may well have been the case 15 years ago but clearly not know. The licensing is the main issue now. They simply produce their own music because

1. They don't want to pay royalties
2. They get royalties from other countries that dub it since they use their music instead of the japanese OST

The current budget is most likely A LOT smaller than it used to be. Most of the japanese music is made by groups outside TPC. Licensing is expensive.

I was under the impression that most if not all of the music was done in-house so there wouldn't be any royalties to pay. Unless you mean royalties to the dubbing company paying to TCP? It would be insane to me to think they have the contractual license to dub the anime in their country but still have to pay individual royalties on the music on top of the license fee.

This episode featured one of the XY anime's hypest battles in the early going, and it's got a pretty good selection of songs adapted from the games and the Pokemon movies to accompany it, including the Lysandre battle theme. The weather trio's theme is nothing beyond okay. It's short, extremely repetitive, and it barely develops the one musical theme. Honestly it sounds like the introduction to an actual theme that never shows up. It's not bad but it's definitely not the best thing ever.

The only thing bad about Dialga/Palkia's theme is the shit soundfont of Gen 4. The Brawl remix really brings out what it could be with better instrumentation.
