Because it's on Poni of all places, and they didn't make it bigger in comparison the other islands like they made Akala and Ula'ula the same size despite Maui being kind of small.

But they should have other stuff for players who don't want to do just competitive all the time. For example, I loved doing Pokestar Studios and Pokeathlon with my nuzlocke teams.

I also miss the Underground to just pass time and find various items. Pelago's treasure hunting island doesn't even come close to the fun Underground offered in Sinnoh.
