With how things are going, we will be at Gen 32, which might have the 2,000th Pokemon. So it's like in 60 or so years.

By that time, we will only have 30 Pokemon a Gen, Gyms and E4 don't even have a replacement, and there will be no single player so that VGC can have more focus.

At 80 a gen (which seems a reasonable estimate) and a gen every 3 years (reasonable) it would be 45 years from now, roughly. I would be 64. That sounds like a lot of fun. Plus, my senile brain wpuld finally be incapable of remembering all of the Pokémon.

About 50 (currently 20), yes we have had less pokemon the last couple of gens, but I think at 1000 pokemon they'll do a unova and introduce over 150 in one game. So I don't think the number of pokemon released will get exponentially smaller.

Sugimori would probably die before 1400 Pokemon, Ohmura would go blind for some reason, Kanako Eo would probably collect a pension, Ariga would probably try to hold things together then go insane with grief. Around that point, I expect GameFreak to be out of a job and some new team to take over.

Wouldn't it be cool if when we hit 1000 we got a game and each game has 500 pokes available but neither of them had a single pokemon in common. The games would be counterparts but you wouldn't encounter a single pokemon from the other game at all until you fight the champion or your counterpart from the other game or something.

I feel that the reason why they did introduce so many was because they wanted the Unova-Dex to be Gen 5-Dex only. Tbh, kinda reasonable after HG/SS and Platinum, where there were many international Pokemon
