I can't see them doing two entirely different world maps. I'd say it's much more likely that, if we got this kind of scenario, we'd use Hoopa or Ultra Space tech to hop between worlds because a route is impassable in one world but not in the other.

I doubt the water is literally "made" by water types. If a water type was dehydrated I doubt it could use water gun.
