Well if i had to settle for just a highlight reel of the important parts of the OS maybe ot would work out better then. It would cut down on the amount of episodes a lot.
Hell i would even accept them just doing a soft reboot and have ash be as competent as xy ash but in his kanto form ya know what i mean?

No offense, but Ash's early adventures aren't really worth recounting without the comedy aspect.

Well, I mean the show wasn't awful, but as a recap I imagine it's just going to skim over most things and just focus on things like meeting team rocket for the first time and gym encounters. Unless they decide to completely redo a good chunk of those gym 'battles' it's going to be a bit of a snore.
Unless they replace all those encounters with real battles Ash has to overcome instead of getting things like the Rainbow badge for free.
And if they DO do that, then it's pretty much just Pokemon origins.

I'm just happy Ho-oh is *finally* getting the spotlight. One of the very first Pokémon we ever saw, the absolute first beyond 151 and one that was teased as being important but the storyline was dropped. Nice to see it being addressed and hopefully resolved. It'd be cool if it was all flashbacks and it turns out there's a hidden Ho-oh story we never saw.

This sounds awesome, but I fear they will just have his initial appearance be more gratuitous, maybe have him appear one more time then just just drop him a he was dropped in the anime.

This doesn't look like just a straight-up retelling, Pikachu was near-death when they first saw Ho-oh and it looks fine here. This is probably an alternate take on Ash's start. Looks fine to me, will probably watch.
