What is the best gen design wise and why is it gen 2

Gen 2 had the best legendaries, with the only flaw being that stinky onion.

In my opinion I would say Alola followed closely by Kanto. Johto has a small but very thoughtful selection that I love, including my favorite pokemon ever. Maybe it sounds weird but it feels the most "Japanese" to me, if that makes sense

I like onion fairy. Not a favorite but as a design it's quite good.

Most people won't agree, but I ike gen 2 the best too.
I'm a big fan of gen V, personally. I know it's rsther controversial on here, but I really don't fault many of its designs. It's a little excessive on the legendaries and mythicals, but apart from that and a few arguably unappealing designs (Garbodor, Klinklang, Vanilluxe, the elemental monkeys, and Seismitoad come to mind, though I like all of those but Garbodor, personally,) but it's chock full of good designs otherwise, and a lot of variety, too. I think its mons were a perfect parody of Kanto and helped make up an excellent reboot, and I'm sad that they don't get as much recognition as they deserve, in my opinion.

Design wise, Hoenn has my vote. It's not too different from the original style to not feel like pokemon yet they took many risks and many of the designs are unique enough to stand on their own. This is my favorite gen design wise. The runner ups are Kanto and Sinnoh for me

Gen 2 has a lot of good designs, but a lot of the mons are trash in battle so I never got attached to them.

Alola would be number one on my list but it has so few mons in the first place that the couple I don't like end up being like 15% of the region, even though I only dislike a couple mons.
I think gen 1 has the best designs in terms of quantity (the amount of designs i like/the total amount of designs).

I unironically think gen 1 has the best designs. I'm not a genwunner though, RBY were trash games don't get me wrong.
Too bad most of them were garbage to play with.

Meh. Aside from Meganium and Bellossom none of the Johto mons really stood out for me.

I unironically like the Gen 4 designs
bump for best gen

And yet my bro is from Gen 4, funny huh?

It's based on a region of Japan and they decided to put a bit more cultural ties into their games. How is that a bad thing?
Third gen for me
I agree, Gen 2 Pokémon are the best. They're all colorful and friendly looking.

It really is gen 2, sadly most mons introduced were fucking garbage.
