Honestly I think bugs main problem isn't it's resistances but the fact that almost half the types in the game resist it's attack (7) and the ones it's super effective too are some of the less commonly used types (Grass, Psychic, Dark)

Tbqh if i was asked to try and balance bug with changes that still made sense at the least I would start with SE to ground and taking away at least one of the resistances. Maybe poison

Poison is pretty damn cool. I was playing a gen 1 rom hack a few days ago and had completely forgotten that bug and poison were weak to each other.

It's really interesting to me how many bug/steel types exist. You would think metal bugs would be a somewhat limited idea but all of them are cool.

Gen 5 really was a great period for bugs. Gen 4 was kind of meh with them, yanmega was cool and kricketune was charming but johto was where bugs really were at their best prior to unova.

I don't get the hate for golisopod, runs fine for me in monotype and UU. Amazing design and concept, definitely in my top 5 bugs.

Agreed, especially Forettress.

Golisopod is one of my absolute favorites as well, what an excellent design. I also use one and it's great. There is no real "hate" for Golisopod in the game community, the people who don't like it are the smogon mods that dislike people who discuss it outside of UU.

Have to say, shuckle with toxic and sandstorm is a real force to be reckoned with for in game. I had one in a liquid crystal run and while it's slow to kill it never failed to get the job done. Well, at least anything not steel type.

I was pretty terrible at Pokemon back then too.

I distinctly remember going over to a friends house with two of our other mates. We played a 2v2, all emerald. Every single mon was either a starter or legendary, as you do at a young age.

Got my absolute shit pushed in every single battle.

Ever since HeartGold and SoulSilver I've run mono bug teams. I like that underdog feeling and it's an evem bigger smack in the face when you beat the elite four with them. All of my hall of fames since then display whoever my most badass bugs were at the time.

As of later games i do go for coverage though with secondary typing

I like bugs but GF has some obssession with taking a huge dump on the type in general between their horrible base stat total, awkward typecharting and poor coverage, it's like some inside joke with the devs.

I mean far as Bug typing goes there is a far higher frequency of 'WHY DOES THIS THING EVEN EXIST' distributions than with most typings besides Ice because of just how abysmally low their stats are and how awful their typing is.

See, I don't like actual bugs but when it comes to pokemon, I gotta pick Durant. Especially with Hustle, that little monster destroyed most of Unova and Kalos.

I run cross poison on my Parasect and sludge bomb on Venomoth as a way to deal with fairies. Ribombee is great for dragons, I use one on my main team.

Yeah, I try to find answers. I have scizor which helps a ton against fairies but sometimes things like primarina and klefki mess me up. I've thought of running rimbombee but I worry that other then dragons it won't find too much use outside as that.

I ran buzzwole with ribombee and it worked really well. Ribombee usually couldn't OHKO but it could soften the opponents up for buzzwole to finish off and get one or two beast boosts, and when ribombee couldn't touch Either opponents, ribombee could use light screen or heal buzzwole
