Everyone hates its guts for not standing up(what a silly reason when its not even a person) or being too different(I really can't see it when it still has the shells and whiskers). Because it doesn't look cool, and the appeal of Mewtwo in the first place is that it's cool.

I think it's plagued by the "plastic toy design" syndrome, especially with the weird toes and fingers, and the female voice actor in that Genesect movie soured me on it even more. It's also kind of worthless when it comes to battling in-game though that doesn't bother me too much.

Like the dex entries state Mewtwo is supposed to be fearsome and aggressive, it has Unnerve as an ability and MMY just doesn't give me any of those vibes. Overall I consider it to be an insult to Mewtwo.

I think people forget actual big cats can get pretty bulky or even buff, much less how they stand up to whack at their opponent or grapple them to take them down. Fire tiger is just a pokemon-ish extension of that with being bipedal and a wrestler theme.

Cloud nine can be cool on weather teams (you can run fire blast/punch without the fire nerf rain provides, or surf/aqua tail on a sun team without the nerf sun provides) or just for AV/band/specs sets in general, but for curse and resttalk sets oblivious is the way to go.
