I like Ash-Greninja. The concept itself is kinda eh, Ash getting a previously-unseen new thing in the bond evolution was a wasted opportunity that seems pointless, but there's room to expand upon it in future, I guess.

Red and blue are my favourite colours, and the design looks neat. I like how it took Greninja and turned it into something completely different gameplay-wise, without rendering Protean obsolete.

What if Ash-Greninja is a lost-in-translation name?

Satoshi-Gekkouga could have a double meaning - a tribute to Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of the franchise, for the 20th Anniversary, since he created the franchise. That does explain why they kept the name Ash-Greninja and not (You)-Greninja.

I don't like it because Protean is more flexible, and it's a very subpar pokemon without Battle Bond being active. Until you can proc it, it's useless. It can't swap into anything, it can't do much damage, and it's a very easy to predict mon. Greninja is good because of its coverage with Protean. Without it, it's arguably one of the worst starters in the series.
