The Zubat one is just unfortunate placement. The rest are from the frankly fantastic NOM Master Guides. Regrettably, back at the start, they didn't really manage to keep on top of what was fact and what was rumour. They ironed it out in the end but I guess it's kind of quaint as it certainly contributed to the rumours. Some of it they had to know better on, though, and it'll have been a cruel joke.

Also, I distinctly remember NOM running a cheat in their main issues once telling you how to get Yoshi in RB, then later ignoring this and saying it was totally impossible.

British game mags from the 80s and 90s were a wonderful beast and NOM's absolutely mental staff posting constant bullshit for a laugh, giving rival consoles childish names like GreyStation Poo, even stupid shit like giving Wario a Yorkshire accent, were very much indicative of this much.

Frankly the dub's dialogue nowadays makes this seem like genius writing, though, that's how far its fallen.

The fansubs I watched had "metamorphosis" instead of "body-replacement technique" and apparently both had "No, it just evolved" from Misty/Kasumi after it, so that's why I defended it. Now that I see the proper subs, I can see that was a *little* dumb. Still, at least 4Kids didn't interject slang, rhymes, alliterations, puns, etc. everywhere like the TPCi dub does in casual conversations- that's truly pure stupidity, to me. It actually makes you like the characters less & gives you an unfavorable impression of them because of how dumb their speech patterns are.

Heck, I could list countless DP and XY era dub Team Rocket lines here that would make "metamorphosis attack" sound like Shakespeare wrote it.
