Also I agree with you on Hitmonchan. I used him in SoulSilver years ago and I feel that he helped carry my team quite nicely, and being able to use the elemental punches that generation really added to his usefulness.

Current team on my first emerald run, all of them have been traded from my RS runs and also have had pokerus. Usually exchangeable for some others in my box: Alakazam, Absol, Hariyama, Scep, Blaz, Swamp, Heracross are the only ones at a decent level and somehow useful.

Zang: the glass cannon, can sweep almost anything after one Swords Dance BUT if you paralyze him it's over. Even though it has Shadow ball, it can,'t outspeed Alakazam.

Garde: special tank, same as Zangoose but it dies easy to phys attacks. Hardy nature, I've been EV training her but for some reason the old man that checks EVs told me her best stat is Atk... I really don't get it.

Skar: Phys wall/toxic staller. Don't have any complains in particular as it has been the mvp in most of my run.

Azu: Another wall on his way to max hp. It's particularly useful for his natural bulk and special + stab but can't really do anything against any electric mon.

Salamence: Adamant, I just got it because I was told it was rare. Doesn't have any good move besides double edge. Same as Zangoose but recoil is actually troublesome.

Manectric: paralyz spreader.

I'm planning to face Anabel first, any advice concerning my team would be more than welcome.

This is a team I used in a run of SoulSilver, most likely my favorite team ever

Also running through emerald. It was supposed to be a solo run with sceptile (it's pretty tough until you get leaf blade, at which point you basically win), but I bumped into a seviper and I just couldn't help myself...ended up making it a mono reptile run and promoting a couple of HM slaves (aron, torkoal, and wingull until I found a tropius) to full time party members. Just beat the psy twins. Sceptile is a god.
