Yes, but that's nostalgia guided. I played that game the most because I loved pokemon and had almost nothing else. Nowadays I have a bunch of different games I want to play and actually important stuff to do in life outside of that.

The more recent games have improved greatly on a lot of aspects of those games, and while I like it more than other gens you can't say everything else is shit. Gen 5 is leaps ahead of gen 4 in post game and wonderous world exploration. Gen 6 is a technological marvel compared to it's predecesors, and gen 7 has some of the best pokemon and characters in years, on top of a great story for pokemon standards.

So again, take off the nostalgia googles.
