As a Poison type fan, I welcome our new Fairy targets. Also, I hated how there were so few counters to Specs Draco Meteor/Fire Blast/Focus Blast spam back in Gen 5. Fairies were needed.

I've really only had one issue with Fairy as a type. Just one, everything else about it is just fine.
I can see why Dragon seriously needed to get taken down a peg, even though I personally like the type.

I'm fucking glad that Fighting got hit with the nerf bat, Close Combat is fucking cancer.

But why did they have to go and give Dark another weakness? Dark wasn't hurting anything. Steel could've just kept its Dark resist and Fairy could've been neutral to Dark and everything would be hunky-dory. If we go by what needed balancing in the Gen V metagame, Water was far and away more of a problem than Dark. Imagine where the metagame would be if Fae had been neutral all around to Dark and SE against and resistant to Water instead?

I do agree with you. Dragon and Fighting were omnipresent at VGC '11 and '12 and they needed a nerf. But I have no clue why they decided to shit on Dark. Yeah, Hydreigon, Scrafty, Tyranitar, and Weavile were huge contenders in those tournaments but that's because
1) introduced that gen and MADE overpowered
2) weather wars
I just don't get why they felt that Dark needed to be taken down, especially with all four of those getting hit by Fairy already (Hydreigon and Scrafty by Dragon/Fighting weaknesses to Fairy and Tyranitar and Weavile by increased Steel presence from Fairy). It just feels unnecessary
