No, that would be BW and BW2. You can actually see their effort in HGSS, BW, and BW2, though. Packing features in, adding QOL improvements, not to mention the 156 mons introduced in BW with a bold (if controversial) dex consisting of ONLY new mons. These are all tangible evidence of actual effort. And you can find the evidence of laziness in their later releases, too... it's quite sad. SM is looking pretty promising to me so far (not too far in,) but from the threads about all the missing and cut content, it's obvious they were pretty lazy about this one, too.

BW did have several good Pokemon, but for every Hydreigon or Serperior there were 6 monkeys.
The good designs were simply diluted by the sheer volume of crap.

SM's Pokemon are just alrght, barring a couple of the Alolan forms there's nothing especially offensive.

B2W2 have Join Avenue, medals, PWT and the Black Tower/White Treehollow plus a bunch of strong rematchable trainers outside of the league. Basically the best postgame in the series, only HGSS can gave them a run for their money.
