For anyone not up for slapping together a whole edit all at once. Just start simple and post text: What's your pick for starters?

I like using the Johto starters. I've had a hard time finding a pleasing mix of differing generation starters, and I feel like the Johto starters need more exposure.

Okay I'd hoped there'd be a few more replies before going on but oh well; What about early route pokemon?

Kanto and Johto both had pidgey rattata and the bugs primarily. Hoenn had Poochyena, Zigzagoon and wurmple. Sinnoh had Starly, Bidoof and Kriketot. Unova had Patrat and Lilipup/Purloin. Kalos had Fletchling, Bunnelby, and Sactterbug as well as kanto bugs, pidgey and zigzag. And Alola had Pikipek and A-Ratata/Yungoos along with kanto and johto bugs.

Obviously you don't have to stick to those niches, particularly if your aesthetic doesn't match the games' fairly generic starting route themes but it gives an idea to work off of.

I like the way you handled version exclusives. The elemental E4 is cool, too, but I feel like Electric would've rounded it out better.

Here's my shitty dex. Red / Blue are version exclusives, Mega Stone means it had a Mega, and the Z-Ring means it has an exclusive Z-move.

Empoleon has a new signature move, which it uses for its Z-Move
