Anyway, vs. Korrina might be my favorite, or maybe vs. Elesa just because of how stupid it was.

Clemont Vs. Ash along with Charizard Vs. Magmar.

Very fond of the Roxanne battle purely because of how completely caught off guard Roxanne is by Ash's strategic genius. She goes into the battle knowing full well he's a great Trainer and she, a teacher who specialises in Pokémon battles, is totally blindsided by his quick thinking and on-the-spot strategising.

Blaine was also very satisfying, as was Lt. Surge.

The XY Gym battles were generally the best followed by DP.

Of the older ones Claire was the best one in the OS, and I'm fond of Flannery and Juan's matches in Hoenn. I liked the two Brawly fights as well as Winona.

Brawly winning the first match was so refreshing, I don't think Ash had lost throughout the entirety of Hoenn up to that point.

Ash vs Sawyer from XY

Even ignoring the IKU ZE (which was hype as shit), Noivern vs Salamence was pretty intense, and Pikachu vs Aegislash was really creative in how Pikachu blocked Aegislash's shield form with a piece of wood.

Really? Juan's probably was the least interesting of all the Hoenn gym battles. Mediocre animation, and the most predictable, cookie-cutter strategies. I found myself skipping through just to see how it'll end.

AG's battles on a whole were a step up from the OS. They only look dated now because of how the animation improved into DP and XY.
