Why do threads get deleted due to porn spam instead of just the posts?

I've seen waifu threads get spammed tailsposter or IRL porn and mods just delete that and not the thread.

It's probably a case by case basis

There was a Slandint shitposting thread where they were demanding it got made /vp/'s mascot and those posts kept getting massive GETs. It got old quick as they started forcing it on other threads soon after.
