Something occurred to me when I was watching the anime a while back
They've got that whole battle segment thing, right? What if someone trained their mon in a way that they'd barely scrounge by through the first stage, then in the battle stage, they'd just curbstomp their opponent to win
It's an autowin there if the opponent faints, yeah? You don't have to be the most stylish if you can just wreck everyone

i remember playing XY and realizing there were no contest halls. i'd barely played gen 5 so i shat myself when i realized that yes, they weren't there too

It is a flaw, though if I remember correctly, the points earned in the appeal round essentially served as HP in the battle round.

The ribbons are so easy to get that I almost don't mind. But it is a huge nerf for anyone who enjoyed contests.
