I just started on sun and moon anime all i can say is they make you at least try to like ash more this season but ultimately hes still the weak link overall in the show.
Team rocket remains best characters and overal protagonists to date. Even in xy they were the only ones who came out on top.

Well, they've done what they can do with the subplot so far without getting into what caused it.

Brock's Vulpix was criminally underused. I don't recall it ever getting any real spotlight outside the two Suzie episodes. Plus with Brock gone for Orange Islands we barely saw it outside a small handful of Kanto eps and I barely remember it appearing in early Johto till it left.

It didn't. It got a "holy shit it can actually fight" moment when it soloed TR in PM42 and had a short training battle with Pikachu in PM74, but outside of that I don't think it ever appeared outside crowd scenes.
It's highly unlikely they had any actual plans for any of the Pokemon anyone caught in Kanto.

The design he had in xy was much more mature than this rendition sure.
But generally speaking Ash becoming this more comedic and childish character after that makes it seem to me at least they are trying to make him likeable. Typically making a character change that much physically is meant to assern a less agressive and battle focused character.

The use of filler was a major failure in DP. Characters like Dawn and Brock could really have used more development episodes. Dawn ended up being a May with worse character development and no change to her attitude and personality at all while Brock might as well have been replaced with a tree holding a recorder.

I don't see how it was rushed at all. The battles Ash/Dawn/Croagunk had against the Galactic members was fine. Ash didn't battle Cyrus but he never battled the villain leaders back then. It also ended more or less the same way as the games did, with Cyrus making it into the distortion world and then getting locked away in dimensional limbo.

Sure she worried, but she was more part of the scenery until she figured out what she wanted. The writers could've focused on relationships and character interaction at that time, but they didn't.

And she admitted at the literal very end that she didn't ever think about the happiness of other people and wanted to work on that. Fine message, but kinda creepy and weird considering it took 3 years worth of screentime to figure out she had empathy issues. Her first real conversation with Ash in trying to make him feel better ended up with her being frustrated and walking off on him. Sure Ash tried to blow her off first, but HE was the one dealing with depression at the time and she made things worse.

If she really wants Ash, she needs to experiment and date with someone else first because her first relationship is going to tank.

Just saying that the only pokemon to ever beat charizard x in the show is primal groudon and a e4s mega blastoise.
Charizard x tanked a stone edge from mega gyardos and did just fine.
Charizard x tanked a protean ash greninja water shryuken and did just fine.
It was way to strong of a support during the lysandre fight. To make that fight even seem like it was close.

You're watching the pokemon anime, after 5+ female leads and 4+ male companions, you should know what to expect. Each character still has a distinct personality even if their roles are fundamentally the same as the previous character.

This is just how the show worked. It started to become obvious around DP and BW. The only reason it wasn't at first was because May's personality was fairly different than Misty's and back then everything May was doing was new and fresh.
