I really liked them at first but, the more I play, the more I realize they may not be a good thing for the game.
They are kind of the opposite of Mega Evolutions for me, where Z-moves are fun during the creation of your team and really bring out the creative aspect of team-building, but are also unexpected bullshit during battles most of the time. It's really frustrating.
Megas centralized the game and limited your options, but I didn't mind them aside from that (well, aside from the broken ones). These are really frustrating, but it's fun building around them. What do (You) think?

I think they're pretty cool. Z-moves feel like a supercharged Hidden Power that your Pokemon can use as an ace to help it take on threats for your team. Nothing is safe and I think it adds a good dimension to team building.

Bad idea. Gems were better and more balanced because they kept the original move's properties and could be used more than once per battle.

I have fun with them because of the dumb trainer poses, but mechanically they're lame as fuck. Megas were a far better gimmick feature with real impact in battles, the only problem with them is there aren't more.
Z-Moves are still better than Type Gems though, as you can choose when to use them and they have their uses with Status moves. There's Recycle and Acrobatics/Unburden shenanigans with Type Gems, but that's even more one-trick.
