As someone who recently started reading the Manga, I would love if the anime followed the same tone and story lines as them. Give us new protagonists every season with cameos from older characters sprinkled in. This whole having people and Pokemon leaving and never returning and Ash forgetting things every fucking region is getting really old.

More focus on adventure, and the characters using their Pokemon to accomplish tasks like in Pokemon Generations. Most episodes feature well animated battles, with the Pokemon using their environment as well. Ash and his pals can still be in it for all I care, as long as its fun.

It's fine as it is, but they should show more cleavage on the characters. They did it with May after all.

A spinoff with James, Brock and Kanto Ash wandering around getting into wacky shenanigans.

XY is pretty much the standard, but I think it was a missed opportunity to not have a comedy episode where Serena's clothes were misplaced and the only nearby thing she could wear was a diaper. It would lead to assuming situations where she had to avoid getting caught by the gang. The episode would end with Serena having to relieve herself but because she was wearing a diaper it was okay and while she peed, it would invoke that 'feel good' feeling, distracting her long enough for Ash, Clemont and Bonnie to come in and see her in her situation. That would be pretty funny.

And no I don't mean make it edgy. Take digimon as an example: it treats its target audience with some respect and doesn't treat them like they are autistic babies. It KNOWS its target audience can handle darker themes. It KNOWS its target audience has some semblance of intelligence. It KNOWS its target audience is capable of handling an overarcing plot with well written characters.

Meanwhile the pokemon anime is "Ash goes to school in alola. Wacky hijinx ensue". See what I mean?

No, but that makes it more relatable and interesting, and being interesting is obviously the most important thing for a show. There's a reason even GF includes an "evil" team in every game, rather than just letting you have a happy and simple adventure with Pokemon.
There's a lot of ways to make something interesting, but the basic ideas are always simple. Either you try to present just a funny story that will capture viewers' interest or a "mature" one. If I wanted something funny, there are many other choices. Pokemon world isn't going add something special to this, so a funny Pokemon anime would be just redundant. A mix of both would be perfect, with funny and serious moments, and that requires some mature themes, so in this case, I believe it does need to be "mature" to be perfect.

Ash is replaced by someone else with less naivety and who can age. Pokemon no longer do that fucking retarded thing where they can only say their own name and instead make animal sounds with a few exceptions. The writers are allowed to make some references to the games and their mechanics even if they don't apply to the animation and its story but most be done with extreme care. Rather than the usual 2 boys 1 girl group it is instead divided into two stories of one male lead and one female lead. They may eventually interact and get to know each other if it fits in the story. Rather than set up two notable trainers, usually two gym leaders, to travel with the protagonist becomes close friends with specific notable trainers and a few other characters that are designed by the writers themselves and have the main character stay in contact with the friends they do not travel with as much to make their relationship feel more like a genuine friendship rather than someone you travel a few seasons with and never talk to again minus one token cameo. As the character ages the writers explore the lead's mental state, this can maybe be expanded on even more if they grow into a specialist for dark, ghost, or psychic pokemon. The writers are allowed throw in as many dirty jokes and adult references as they please but must do this, subtly, carefully, and while keeping the audience as wide as necessary(without restricting creativity of course) but may openly reference some lesser offenders like romance and maybe a random character here and there that is having a certain type of alcohol. There. It might be shit but that is my ideal anime, mostly.

Episodes without battles are the norm. Most battles are quick exchanges where every landing hit is important. The main cast is always at the disadvantage in a fight and always have to make the perfect counter to whatever strategy the enemy team has cooked up. Most of the anime is for exploring the relationship between humans and pokemon, mixed in with bits and pieces of worldbuilding. The protagonist is stoic, but not boring. I think that's it.

It would take upon the games and expand the storyline of these, making it more interesting. Also, the protagonists are able to speak (except Red) and go through some extent of development.

If I were in charge of the anime from the beginning:

>try to build actual stories
>try to appeal to all ages, not just children (keep it PG)

My autistic scenario:

>Orange Islands: Ash is 11. He's still kinda dumb, but is progressing.

Ash and Max get to the Conference and battle each other in the quarter-finals. Ash wins but then he loses the semis to a Brendan lookalike. May's story is basically the same.
>Battle Frontier: Ash is 14, and much more competent now. He challenges the Battle Frontier, again, with Max, who is now 11. Again, May's story is basically the same. But in the end it's more clear that she ends up with Drew as her partner. At the end she goes to Johto.

His story is not over, but he's not the MC anymore.

Kinda similar to actual anime, but he's been actually aging. When Ash loses his fourth League, he doesn't even remember why he even wants to be a Master, or if he ever had a reason at all. He goes to Unova for a sabbatical trip and ends up mentoring and traveling with a younger Hilda. She wins the League thanks to his coaching (but loses to the Elite 4) and this helps rekindle Ash's spark before he decides to take on Kalos for himself, which he does win. The Kalos saga focuses on Manon and Alain while Ash is the one with the four episode special before appearing again right before the League.

3rd gen based anime with May as the main character being a hotblooded badass who wants to battle almost always with Brendan being the soft affectionate type doing contests with the two of them meeting up, battling one another and journeying and separating every few episodes until the plot gets heavy where they stick together for a while. The plot sticks close to R/S/E or OR/AS.
May gets Blaziken, it just feels fitting.

The low point could be Serena being there just as a (semi) romantic interest, but even then, her own story eventually kicked off. Even the filler in XY was fine.

Different protagonist every region

Team Rocket remain the primary comedic antagonist, try to steal starters in general instead of Pikachu.

Alola would be a "IT ALL COMES TOGETHER" season where the protagonist has no companions, but all the previous protagonists (and TR) happen to be on vacation in Alola, so he randomly meets different ones (sprinkled between regular COTW)

They did keep Kimonos in Kanto & Johto and rice balls a few times contrary to popular opinion in OS and AG, and they left all the Japanese music in Movies 4-8, just saying- 4Kids was at least less terrible than TPCi is.

Pretty much this. Tamers was awesome because the story was simple and never tried too hard, unlike PokeSpe which seems like they just want to get edgy for the sake of it. I'm sick of all those crappy hackroms and fanfics where trainers are mercenaries or assassins (same for all the "creepy" fanart of realistic mons) because that's not what makes Pokémon interesting.

I'm all for darker plots, as long as they are handled well and not shoehorned to appeal to edgelords. Simple adventures, not something else. Even Tamers had Impmon as the edgy character, but he grew a lot and ended being strong on his own, even if he got his ass handed to him several times.

I'd like to see a season where Ash is a friendly rival/tutor for the new MC. They can even use his red hat as a symbol which goes to the next generation.
