I had a Lickitung pop up on nearby but couldn't find it. Sucks because it's one of the mons I'm missing. Event is live though. Feels so good since I missed Halloween. I've been scanning 4 different cities now, plus looking at my own local spawns, and it's pretty clear that these are like Halloween. They are tied to biomes.

If you're in an electric biome, you'll see a fuck load of Porygon.

Grass/Forest biomes are loaded with Exeggcute and Jigglypuff.

Mountain biomes are full of Clefairy.

Chansey is a weird one. I'm seeing it in all biomes.

The only benefit of it having to be at a pokestop is that a decent amount of players will congregate to a single spot. But the implementation is bad because you would most likely have to know the person you want to battle to meet you there. Players show up at pokestops at random times.

I think most, if not all, of us can agree that we, to this point, have come across far more 5K eggs than anything else. Research and data has shown the egg drop rate to be proportional (or at least positively correlated) to the number of Pokemon that hatch from any particular egg type.

That said, even prior to the egg changes being reported today, after the event began, I immediately noticed an increased drop-rate of 2K eggs (cleared a full bag of eggs just after the event started, and 8 of my next 9 were 2K). Given that most of the formerly-5K egg hatches now appear to hatch from 2K eggs, it would follow that we'll see 2K eggs (at least for now) far more often than before, similar to the old 5K egg drop rate.

For those that purchase coins for or spend earned coins on incubators, you can now expect, in an effort to clear through eggs you collect, to burn through your incubators significantly faster than before, spending 1 incubator charge, on average, over a significantly shorter distance than before.

This, of course, makes perfect business sense from Niantic's perspective, but it certainly puts a strain on a player's capacity to use egg hatching as a boon for candy and high-IV Pokemon collecting. I had hoped to continue spending coins on incubators into Gen 2, but considering the cost of such a strategy to this point, it will be difficult to manage this change.
