Braixen, however, diverges from the progression. This isn't actually unusual in starter mid-evos--look at Wartortle's ears, for instance--but, in this case, it attracted the furry crowd. A cute, feminine fox!

That pushed away some of the Fennekin fans, because some people always respond negatively to what they see as furbait. So, when Delphox was revealed, the fans of the line were disproportionately there because of Braixen.

And so the autistic screeching began. Delphox was much more gender-neutral than Braixen, focusing more on the "wizard" angle than the "cute" angle. The waifu dream was dead--they had specifically wanted a witch, and they didn't get it.

If Braixen hadn't gone the magical girl route, but Delphox were exactly the same, everything would be better.

Instead of just wimping out like a pussy that doesn't even want to try, it reteats battles in a more tactical fasion. Just here to say, you're not alone. Don't mind the extreme defenders. I'm not saying you should hate Primarina either because that's unnecessary, but in regards to how I feel about it (Primarina), I'm just pretty damn underwhelmed by it too, no matter how good the type combination is, because that shouldn't affect one's opinion regarding a pokemons' design at all.

People often say "it's better than it just gets bigger" like how they like to call the other clown design (Pinnister), but in actuality, what they don't know is, Primarina itself is really "it just gets bigger", the only differences are, it gets hair, frills and a few more accessories to put it together and takes advantage of the whole mermaid and prima donna look.

You can throw your shit at me all you want for promoting the other clown design, but at least that one changed proportions enough for there to be a difference. Heck, some people thought Brionne wasn't that much of a evolution when you compare it to Popplio in the sense that it barely changes. I know the meaning behind it is, as it evolves, it becomes more graceful/elegant, but dang yo.

I don't like bringing it up mostly because I know my post will get controversy. That design that one artist made had admittedly a pretty bad render the very first time it was first shown, at least compared to the latter concept sketches the artist had given up to us which told a different story and are amateurish compared to Game Freaks', but gave us a more in-depth look at it. But fuck that, don't wanna talk about it.

I appreciate the effort Game Freak did with Primarina, it's not easy to pull off a design either, especially for a animal species that has tremendous gender differences and I know I might be coming out like an ass about it too and I really don't want to, but from how I see it, it feels like they kind of took it easy with Primarina. And I'm not exactly fancy with the detail clutter either which makes it look less like a sea lion and more like a mermaid, enough to not let us be able to see its ears properly for example and makes one more weary of the fact that Popplio's no longer that sea lion you first picked, but a more detached from itself, mystical version of it. Some may like the mystical creature-mermaid-selkie theme, others may not, thus the tremendous struggle some may find into liking Primarina if they're the kind that likes sea lions faithfully, but aren't that jolly over the whole mystical detachment.
