See that's what I don't get. People tell us we shouldn't sexualize pokemon girls, yet there are scenes in the actual anime in every season where the show itself does that. Every single girl has had these fanservice moments where they're made to look sexy or the camera focuses on an aspect of their body like boobs or ass.

Dawn's tiny skirt really felt weird for a show like pokemon. I mean May's breasts are one thing but she's still fully clothed with no cleavage, but Dawn's skirt was so short, and then when she was jumping or running and the skirt rode up her legs it was like something out of a fanservice anime.

The animators were obviously told to never draw full panty shots, but that made it worse because it seemed like she wasn't wearing anything.

That's not an argument. They occur in the anime's basic continuity, and many of the movies are referenced or alluded to in the anime. This isn't something that's really debatable anymore.

From time to time, people on Serebii try to dredge up this tired old subject, and I remember at least one of them recently got shut down by the moderators because it's a settled issue.

The only people who still "debate" this are autists on forums like these who are thinking way too hard about this. It's usually people saying, "Well, these things don't have much impact on the TV show, oh, and Ash in this anime episode doesn't remember this specific thing from a movie that aired nine years ago, so how can they all be canon?" It's all a big argument from incredulity, which is a classic logical fallacy. The movies (all except M14, anyway) are as canon as any filler episode is. The fact that you see it first in a theater first instead of on TV isn't pertinent here.

I'm not a daily poster here, just want to know the ratings of the pancake race episode.

There are a couple of inconsistencies in the movies that overall muddy up the overall canon of the series. For the sake of keeping things more in-house (that means only blaming the TV series for contradicting itself down the road instead of having a promotional extension mess with the lore of the main product), the safest bet is to keep the movies out.

The movies are flashy stuff and they sometimes have to do shit they wouldn't do otherwise in the main canon. That's fine as long as they're kept contained.
