Ignoring any potential negative implications of a webcomic, I agree with Saul in that image. We wanted anything but another Fighting-type, and while it's technically in-line with what we asked, it is literally as close as they could make it to be Fire/Fighting - participates in a form of competitive fighting and is basically just a human in a mascot suit. It's stupid, and no one but the japanese and us autists understand the reference it's trying to make. Very few people are satisfied with it.

I'm still completely baffled that they had the gap with Delphox in it, too. I hope that means that it actually wasn't intentional and we'll get some new, fresher material soon...

Also, what is with the Fire starters names all being garbage since gen 3 or 4? Literally just two words mashed together with no secondary meanings or neat attributes. All the other starters' names have been more clever than Fire starters, consistently so.

I know in the latest Incineroar thread someone cleaned up some new TCG art where it has less cartoony proportions and they're hailing OMGcanon good proportions now! So hey, there's that for them.

Agreed on the sp. attack and speed swap fully though. And that's including I'm optimistic on its future competitive viability as time goes on.

Well they're better than Inferno Ape, Ember Boar, Delphi Fox, and Incinerate Roar. They are barely related to the mons. The least they could do is connect to the themes or be interesting, which is why I give a pass to Charizard (It's really stunted but has become a classic name) and Typhlosion (Typhoon has literally nothing to do with the mon but made for a nice name.)

I'm convinced Incineroar actually was going to be Fire/Fighting and they changed its type after designing it because of the potential backlash (not even "potential," I'm sure they knew people would flip their shit) and because Alola has no other Dark-types besides retyped Genwun Pokémon and a postgame Legendary.

When you consider that the Fighting and Dark types are complete opposites of each other, not really.

The former is about martial arts (aka clean, fair, and technical fighting), the latter is about underhanded/dirty fighting and brute force.

Incineroar is literally called the Heel Pokemon, and heel is the term for "evil" professional wrestlers. Hawlucha, the "face" (good) wrestler, is Fighting type.

It ties into the whole Fighting = Good and Dark = Evl thing.
