I'm upset that SM didn't introduce any new fossils. Forever waiting for a plesiosaur (Lapras doesn't count) and spinosaurus.

Turtles have a pretty interesting evolutionary history. Oldest found fossil of a definitive turtle ancestor is 220 million years old. However, I know there is a species that existed during one of the earth's biggest mass extinctions that led to the ancestors of turtles. I can't find it though. Rock/poison type based on a venomous mammal like reptile whose name I can't remember, make it a fast status abuser.

I read that the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle population is weird in that, unlike most green sea turtles, they'll regularly haul themselves out of the water to sun bathe and sleep. Most other members of the species stay in the ocean their entire lives, with the exception of laying females. I think it might occur in small numbers elsewhere, but it's strange to have such a large population doing it. Bringing it up since you mentioned turtle evolution.
I was kinda hoping for more than carracosta in Alola, but it seemingly handles sea turtles in general pretty well looking back at it. Kinda feel that lapras took the place of a sea turtle pokemon this gen though. Even if it isn't really a turtle.
