GameFreak can shit out a game every few years because they have staff and resources, but we don't have very much of that.

Three actual starter pokemon, but with new types? Swap their types around, or keep the main type but change/add a secondary type?
Three pokemon with three-stage evolution lines, retyped to form a type-advantage triangle?

Lately, I've become interested in the idea of a game that takes place a year after SM in a region based on Massachusetts that acts as the Johto for Unova's Kanto. Nothing will probably ever get the chance to emerge from that idea, though.

If the majority are in favour of Fakemon ruining games, it'll be a great excuse to be a lazy ass and skip out on making some.

Alternatively, what if the Engine was used, except the only Pokemon-related thing that'll be left in the game are the typings, abilities and moves. Maybe a game that functions exactly like Pokemon mechanics-wise, but is its own thing with Monsters or Monstergirls or something. That way we can have fun with sprites and stuff while not fretting about Fakemon ruining the experience.

I'd be down for it but I would prefer doing it with a team.
I don't like fakemons because I think they alienate the player and are tough to like if they are not "official". I cant love a pokemon that I wouldn't see again in an official game.
Regional variants like alola forms could be a cool idea though for a balance between originality and relevance. I have no problem with not having new pokemon though.
If anyone decides to make a group I'd be down to discuss more.

programmers just finished implementing the andante gym yesterday. there's a couple more things we have left feature wise for 2.0 (the lighthouse is the big one, along with a plethora of missing graphics, cries, and overworld sprites).
from there, it's mostly bugtesting and tweaking the level curve.
past 2.0, maps are working on vivace and route 13, so that's the farthest ahead
i'll be posting images of all this, i'm collecting it all now
