How useful is Shedninja in the current metagame? Are there top tier threats that can't do jack against him?
>>
>>31658666
Well, Satan, Garchomp would have to run Rock Slide or Stone Miss to effectively deal with it.
Koko can run Brave Bird
Pelipper can (and does) run Hurricane
A-Muk gets Knock Off
A-Marowak gets Flare Blitz and Shadow Bone

so not really?
>>
>>31658666
He has a niche use of stall teams thanks to the aggressive hazard control that they usually carry.
>>
Shedinja will always be somewhat relevant due to the sheer utility of it on stall teams, but it requires very good teambuilding and skill to pilot such a team.
>>
>>31658666
Very useful.
1. No-one expects you to use him
2. Some people don't even know what he does (I've had people use non-SE attacks against him)
3. If your sash is intact, you can stay in and burn some serious threats
4. Some teams have only one pokemon that can actually beat Sheddy
5. For the above reason, Zoroark is a very viable partner
6. Sableye/Sableye-M pairs VERY well with Shedinja
>>
>>31658666
>>31658786
Also, Sheddy forces switches like nothing else, usually giving you a chance to burn something in the process. Playing Shedinja means taking a lot of risks, but you will often end up putting your opponent in a checkmate position where he has nothing left to beat Shedinja, or forcing him to sacrifice some of his greater assets to keep a Shedinja counter alive.
>>
>>31658693
Chomps already run Z fire fang/fire blast...
>>
can fuck rain teams
>>
>>31658666
All of ou consists of its weakness so it'll stay in the lowest of tiers

Shedinja stall is unbeatable in the hands of a skilled player

Probably only niche is stall teams desu but it does its job well
>>
>>31660846
It can totally beat hurricane Pelipper...
>>
>>31658666

on my main OU team 5 out of 6 mons can damage him. he has many common weaknesses. on my secondary OU team it also has 5 out of 6 mons that can damage him
>>
>walls the tapus
>walls most ultra beasts bar weird coverage moves
>maybe outspeeds alolan marowak, so it can maybe finish one off

It could probably be decent
>>
>>31660882

>tapu lele without HP fire
wew lad
>>
>>31658666
He's good in Ubers actually

Walls P-Kyoger and Xernas
>>
>>31658666
>stealth rock
>frail against special attackers
>whittled away by status without safety goggles
>roar
>leech seed
>surprise hidden power

too frail, even though opponents don't expect it, good teams have counters to every type
you may pull some gimmick off like >>31658786
>>
>>31660857
>fini + rapid spinner
Hello elo hell
>>
>>31660857
>Zubat used defog!
>>
Well if you mimic entrainment you can have your shedninja throw wonder guard on a typhlosion or arcanine which become typeless when using burn up... No typing= No weaknesses, No weaknesses + Wonder Guard= Invincible

Thanks anon that was pretty fun
>>
How do I build Shedinja stall?
>>
>>31664616
what are the set details on that team? I'd like to try making it for cart
>>
>>31665478
This is what I was using, it's just something I threw together quickly, Blastoise really should probably be replaced with a Pelipper with defog so you can offset weather teams.

Audino is useful as a secondary entrainment user and a healer but something else might work better there. Close combat instead of extreme speed is probably better for damage output and coverage, since nothing is going to be damaging you anyways, but there are situations where having the +2 priority might come in handy. This set can fail easily though

Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Baton Pass
- Mimic
- Swords Dance
- Protect

Durant @ Focus Sash
Ability: Truant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Entrainment
- Iron Head
- X-Scissor
- Protect

Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA
Lonely Nature
- Burn Up
- Flamethrower
- Substitute
- Extreme Speed

The best set up would be to pass wonder guard to Audino and then to
Audino @ Leftovers

IVs: 0 Atk
- Entrainment
- Heal Pulse

- Toxic

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Encore
- Taunt
- Knock Off
- Memento

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Aqua Jet
- Dragon Tail
- Fake Out
>>
>>31658666
Shedinja is a risky game, as a lot of attack mons now carry fire and dark moves. However, OU is full of people who either don't know how wonder guard works or only have 2 mons that counter it. Sometimes you'll see teams only have one counter to shedinja and the opp will sac some heavy hitters to try and keep their counter alive. Despite that, OU isn't a friendly meta for shedinja, so like I said it's a big risk

>>31660857
If you're attempting to run sheddy and you dont have a dedicated defogger you're doing it wrong
>>
>>31665740
Fixed the set up a bit, I think this works a bit better but maybe something could replace Audino

Bumping to rule out Battle Spot Singles.

Top 10 pokemon:

Garchomp
- Runs a rock move, sometimes Fire Fang over Poison Jab as well. 39% Scarf'd.

Tapu Koko
- Brave Bird, below 7% usage though apparently.

Tapu Lele
- Shadow Ball and HP: Fire, almost 55% Scarf'd.

Mimikyu
- It's a ghost.

Gyarados
- Mega Gyarados runs Crunch (only 17% usage despite being almost 80% mega for some reason) to oneshot Mimikyu thru Disguise.

Salamence
- Aerialate Double Edge, 23% chance of Fire Blast.

Mamoswine
- 15% Rock Tomb, 55% Stealth Rock

Smogonsword
- It's a ghost.

Celesteela
- Leech Seed, Flamethrower. Sometimes Toxic, too.

Lucario
- 7% Stone Edge

Shedinja destroys Rain teams with proper support. Most builds of Swampert, Manaphy, Xurkitree, Thundurus, Kingdra, and Omastar can't fucking touch it. Kabutops does serve as an out against it, but if Kabutops gets fucked up by burns or even knocked out you can stop just about any rain-sweeper. Shedinja is also annoyingly effective against Pheremosa and other High Jump Kick users (even Lopunny even though its unreleased and has Scrappy, it still isn't SE and crashes anyway). Shedinja is quite obnoxious against Volt-Turn, being immune to both VoltSwitch and U-turn. Only problem is many U-turn users have an out against it since they're either flying types or in Scizor's case, carry Knock Off a lot. If it's a bulky Scizor with Roost instead of Knock Off, you're in the clear though.

Using shedinja properly requires a good deal of scouting to figure out you opponents sets and items, so you can know how well Shedinja counters it. I highly recommend having a Wish-Pass Cleric on your team if you want to run it, not for Shedinja, mind you, but for the rest of your team so you can scout with protect and heal off wounded teammates made to counter stuff Shedinja can't take care of. Alomomola, Chansey, Vaporeon, Sylveon, and Jitrachi are all good at this, depending on what tier or team you're going for.

Shedinja generally suits itself to stall and balance teams, by the way. Having a good defogger and probably Magic Bounce is pretty much essential, so you basically need Mega Sableye or Xatu (if you're going for lower tiers) in order for it to do its best. Sadly, Magic Bounce + Defog is illegal on Xatu so you can't have both on the same pokemon, even though that would make it the perfect teammate.

Defog needs a move tutor, damn it. A move tutor for Xatu.
