Alright, so I'm attempting to farm Razor Claws from Jangmo-o. As a setup, I have a Butterfree with Compoundeyes and the Skill Swap move. I also have 5 Smeargles with Role Play and Thief. It's supposed to go like this:
>Butterfree first, uses Skill Swap to give Compoundeyes to Jangmo-o.
>Smeargle swaps in, uses Role Play to get Compoundeyes
>False Swipe, Adrenaline Orb, Thief, Thief, Thief, Thief...
>when item acquired, swap to next Smeargle, repeat from 2.
I tested this on Meowth. But after 30 minutes, I didn't get a single Quick Claw.
At least I got a shiny out of it, but it seems that borrowed Compoundeyes don't work on SOS Mons.
Can anyone confirm?

Your setup is only halfway there.
Ditch the Smeargles.
Leave your Butterfree fainted in front.
Get an Alolan Exeggutor with Frisk and Theif.
Now you know the instant a battle starts if your Jangmo-o has an item.
Like it or not, this IS the guaranteed fastest way. Could still take hours.

Afaik, and from experience, Compoundeyes of fainted Pokemon doesn't work on Mons called in SOS battles, tho.

I already have a bunch of Razor Claws from my previous setup of 5 Granbulls using Thief. But I wanted to improve the rates using Compoundeyes.
My Smeargles have False Swipe, Thief, Conversion 2 and Role Play
